So recently in class, we have been learning about plants and all sorts of interesting things they can do. You would honestly be surprised at the ingenuity of our flora. So today I'm going to share with you some of the interesting things we have found out about plants.
1. Plants are Mobile.
This one shocked me to be honest. I've always thought growing up that plants couldn't move, but some plants are surprisingly mobile.
Different plants use different ways of moving around to find the best growing spots, to get in to the sun, or protect its seedlings. A plant that can do this is the Liana plant which has developed glider like petals which hold the seeds in the middle and fly the seeds to a more advantageous growing spot.
2. Different Plants Grow Better in Different Places.
I didn't know that different species of plants grow better in different places/seasons. Which is apparently common knowledge. I learnt this from our little garden experiment.
3. Plants can Pollinate Differently than One Another.
I learnt that there are different methods of pollination depending on the species of plant. Some plants can be pollinated by wind, some can be pollinated by birds, insects, bats, and other small mammals.
4.You can Drown Plants Quite Easily
Ummmm... I don't really need to explain how I found that out..
So, those are some of the interesting facts that I have found out about plants. As always i hope you have an awesome day and I'll see you next time! :P

Speeches!
Oh boy. It's Speeches time!! The speech competition is an annually
hated event in the school calendar. Each student must write a speech or poem depending if your younger or not. I used to be one of the people who hate speeches but after last year which I won I've really enjoyed speeches. This year I've been stressing so hard about the whole thing because I feel as though I now have a reputation to hold up but lately I've been trying to be more calm and natural so I can preform better.
Because of this stress, I haven't been writing a speech to the standard I would set so I've completely revisited the matter (for the 4th time). And written my last speech. Unfortunatly, for my own enjoyment I've been keeping my speech topic a secret so I can't tell you right now but in a latter blog post I'll be sure to add it.
Anyway, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed and have an awesome day! Do you like speeches?? If so, good on you for not being afraid to get on the stage and express yourselves!

Book Banter
Now that book week is over, looking back on it I realize I was hardly there for any of the festivities due to a cut in my eye but that doesn't stop me from talking about the things that I was there for.
Well... It kinda does actually. I wasn't there for the author visit, the book swap AND I had basically forgotten about book character day till the day before it so i didn't have much of a costume.
I ended up going as "Mahon Welsh School Year Book 2016."
........ Yup, I went as myself. DON'T JUDGE ME.
Anyway shenanigans aside, for the bits I was there for. Book week was pretty fun. As always. [Insert cheesy hope you have a good week stuff here] <3.

Books
Hey guys, I'm back with another post. This time about me, and my favorite books through out life!
When I was just a young lad, some of the books I read were: The Animal Undie Ball, Thomas The Tank Engine and The Gruffalo.
Regular picture books as you would expect from a child of about 3 to 6 years old.
A bit later on, when i was about 9-ish?? Yeah, 9-ish i was in to stuff like Pokémon and Dinosaurs which is again, Pretty normal.
And now, at my age (13) I'm still in to Pokémon, but now, also stuff like Mysteries, and well.. still Dinosaurs.
Anyway, thank you for reading and as always, I hope you have an awesome day!

Production Stuff + I'm Back
Hey guys, I'm back!!!! I know I haven't posted in ages but I'm finally back and ready to post regularly again.
So recently, we had our school production which has been keeping me busy as I was a main role!
I was the bad guy, King John who was temporarily king standing in place for King Richard the Lion Hart, but I became corrupted and thieved from the land.
Sadly I was thwarted in the end but it was a lot of fun acting and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again!!
My favorite part was probably getting in to character as King John. He was a truly fun persona to adapt to.
Thank you for reading and i hope you have a wonderful day.

Space Microbiome Stuff!
Hey guys, I'm back with another post, This time about microbiomes in space and space as a topic in general.
The reason I'm talking about microbiomes (which is out of the blue considering my regular topics) is that we have a project at school where there are 6 activities on a sheet. You have to choose 6 of the 10 to complete in the space of 6 weeks. One of the possible tasks is writing about something going on with NASA or a space related study in recent times. And on NASA.gov i found an interesting article about microbiomes in space that I thought I would write about.
So, I've rambled on long enough about why I'm writing about microbiomes. But I haven't actually said anything about the actual microbiomes yet!
Microbiomes are essentially a biome (fancy word for climate)
of microbes. An you may be thinking right now, what does NASA have to do with microbiomes? Well, a recent study NASA has started is to do with the microbes and the microbiomes in NASA space ships. They are doing this study to find out different things that will eventually help them make the journey to Mars more fruitful and possible more quickly.
Phew, that was a very long post! If you've gotten to this point thank you very much for sitting through that hole long spiel and enduring my long, boring and meandering post. As always I hope you've had a wonderful day and bye!
P.S: This is going to be my last post for a couple weeks because its the holidays tomorrow. <3

Time Managment
Hi guys I'm back for another blog post, this time about the time management skills of me and my peers in the classroom.
The reason time management is an important skill to have in the year 7 and 8 classrooms here at St. Ben's is because of the task system that I have gone over in previous posts.
To give an explanation for context. The task system is the program we use in class to do our work, the way it works is that at the start of the week we get a sheet, the sheet has a timetable, and a set of "tasks" that have to be complete by the end of the week, a lot of the time the other year groups in school are doing designated work, the year 7s and 8s have "task time" in which we get to complete those "tasks" on the sheet.
If the "tasks" are not completed to a satisfactory standard in our teacher's eyes we have to stay inside whilst other children in the syndicate get to go outside and play Dodge-ball.
As Dodge-ball is a fun activity at the end of the week, it is an instenive to finish your task, and to finish your "tasks" by the end of the week you need good time management.
Since i spent about 14 days explaining how the system actually works I'll go briefly in to how good I actually am at time management. In short, I rekon I'm ok at it, its just im a slave to the video game League Of legends, and when I start playing I can't stop.
I find myself doing a mix of school task work and home task work, depening on A: how busy the week is and B: how many tasks there are.
Thank you very much for reading, I hope you have a wonderful day and just for this post I'm going to put the link to downloading League Of Legends here: https://signup.leagueoflegends.com/en/signup/redownload . If you click on this link or copy it in to your browser you can download the game.
And if you at all interested, my user name is MSwaga029 if you want to add me!
