Plants

So recently in class, we have been learning about plants and all sorts of interesting things they can do. You would honestly be surprised at the ingenuity of our flora. So today I'm going to share with you some of the interesting things we have found out about plants.

1. Plants are Mobile.
This one shocked me to be honest. I've always thought growing up that plants couldn't move, but some plants are surprisingly mobile.
Different plants use different ways of moving around to find the best growing spots, to get in to the sun, or protect  its seedlings. A plant that can do this is the Liana plant which has developed glider like petals which hold the seeds in the middle and fly the seeds to a more advantageous growing spot.

2. Different Plants Grow Better in Different Places.

I didn't know that different species of plants grow better in different places/seasons. Which is apparently common knowledge. I learnt this from our little garden experiment.

3. Plants can Pollinate Differently than One Another.

I learnt that there are different methods of pollination depending on the species of plant. Some plants can be pollinated by wind, some can be pollinated by birds, insects, bats, and other small mammals.

4.You can Drown Plants Quite Easily
Ummmm... I don't really need to explain how I found that out..

So, those are some of the interesting facts that I have found out about plants. As always i hope you have an awesome day and I'll see you next time! :P

Speeches!

Oh boy. It's Speeches time!! The speech competition is an annually
hated event in the school calendar. Each student must write a speech or poem depending if your younger or not. I used to be one of the people who hate speeches but after last year which I won I've really enjoyed speeches. This year I've been stressing so hard about the whole thing because I feel as though I now have a reputation to hold up but lately I've been trying to be more calm and natural so I can preform better.

Because of this stress, I haven't been writing a speech to the standard I would set so I've completely revisited the matter (for the 4th time). And written my last speech. Unfortunatly, for my own enjoyment I've been keeping my speech topic a secret so I can't tell you right now but in a latter blog post I'll be sure to add it.

Anyway, thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed and have an awesome day! Do you like speeches?? If so, good on you for not being afraid to get on the stage and express yourselves!

Book Banter

Now that book week is over, looking back on it I realize I was hardly there for any of the festivities due to a cut in my eye but that doesn't stop me from talking about the things that I was there for.

Well... It kinda does actually. I wasn't there for the author visit, the book swap AND I had basically forgotten about book character day till the day before it so i didn't have much of a costume.

I ended up going as "Mahon Welsh School Year Book 2016."
........ Yup, I went as myself. DON'T JUDGE ME.

Anyway shenanigans aside, for the bits I was there for. Book week was pretty fun. As always. [Insert cheesy hope you have a good week stuff here] <3.

Books

Hey guys, I'm back with another post. This time about me, and my favorite books through out life!

When I was just a young lad, some of the books I read were: The Animal Undie Ball, Thomas The Tank Engine and The Gruffalo.
Regular picture books as you would expect from a child of about 3 to 6 years old.

A bit later on, when i was about 9-ish?? Yeah, 9-ish i was in to stuff like Pokémon and Dinosaurs which is again, Pretty normal.

And now, at my age (13) I'm still in to Pokémon, but now, also stuff like Mysteries, and well.. still Dinosaurs.

Anyway, thank you for reading and as always, I hope you have an awesome day!
